This brought tears to my eyes, Nara. I can’t even begin to imagine the heartache and strength you and Lucky have shown fighting this cancer battle for your sweet little Whimsy. I am so happy she is doing well. We serve a good, good God.

This is so beautifully written. Thank you for being so fragile and sharing the most devastating moments with us. As a mother of a 5 year old, I cannot imagine the pain, the anger, the hopelessness and most importantly, the strength you had to have to hold through over the unimaginable moments. So glad that Whimsy is doing well. Thank you again for sharing the wounds with us. Sending you lots of love.

Part of being the mother of a child with cancer is learning this exact lesson. We don’t have the power to control the outcome or predict the future. Instead, we find one small piece of courage to help us through the impossible. We find our stone.

We use it to shift our mindset from “what if?” to “what do I need to do in this moment to help make my child stronger?” Grief can’t be the one making our decisions anymore. It doesn’t disappear, but it no longer gets to lead.

I think that’s one of the greatest strengths we discover in ourselves. It’s also a beautiful thing our children get to witness. They watch us choose courage over fear, and I truly believe that becomes part of how they heal.

Thank you for being so raw and vulnerable in sharing your story. You are absolutely right m, your words will help so many families in this community feel seen and a little less alone.
